Third Party Support

Third Party Support

An authorised third party is a trusted advisor or organisation, who you have given permission to engage with Cabot on your behalf. The most common third parties appointed are:

    • Professionals (such as solicitors/accountants)
    • Personal representatives (spouse, relative)
    • Support bodies, such as Money Advice and Budgeting Services (MABS)
We will engage with a third party whom you have authorised to act on your behalf, for as long as you wish. A third party cannot make changes to your loan.

All third-party appointments must be formally notified to us in writing. Where we experience difficulties in engaging with a third party, Cabot will contact you to let you know. You can also cancel a previously authorised third-party appointment by contacting Cabot to advise of the cancellation in writing.

Trusted Contact Person

A Trusted Contact Person – or simply a Trusted Contact – is an individual that you trust that you can nominate for us to contact in certain situations. It’s a simple, optional arrangement that can provide valuable support if you need it.

It’s important to understand that your Trusted Contact is not a legal representative and will never have the authority to make financial decisions on your behalf, or deal with your financial affairs. They are there to support and help you to engage with your financial services provider, not to take control.

Further information on a Trusted Contact Person is available from the Central Bank of Ireland by visiting the following link How can a Trusted Contact Person help you to manage your finances | Central Bank of Ireland

Cabot can contact a Trusted Contact Person for the following reasons.
  • If we have concerns about possible financial abuse.
  • To confirm your contact information.
  • To discuss your health status.
  • To verify the identity of any appointed legal, guardian, executor or trustees.
  • If we experience difficulties in communicating with you.
